ALPS provides law firm insurance made easy. We are seeking a self-driven individual for an Underwriting position in Missoula, Montana. The Underwriting Department is responsible for profitable growth and industry leading retention within our professional liability portfolios.
This role is key to ensuring a strategic risk assessment, including analyzing applications and determining insurability with acceptable pricing and terms. This role also requires knowledge of technical underwriting concepts, application of internal underwriting resources and solid decision-making skills which demonstrate a clear thought process. Additional duties may include, mentoring colleagues, and providing customer service internally.
This is a full time, Monday – Friday position, with the starting salary of $45,000 and DOE. Benefits include Employer Sponsored Health Insurance for the Employee, Vision option, Dental option, 401k with a 6% match, PTO, Tuition Reimbursement, Student Loan Assistance Program, and a Lifestyle Spending Account.
Requirements
Minimum Education: Equivalent work experience or undergraduate degree. Applicable insurance industry certifications a plus, but not required.
Minimum Experience: Two years’ work experience in insurance or equivalent fast-paced office environment.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and deadlines, ability to follow and apply underwriting and company standards, and ability to prioritize workload; flexible and resourceful with strong negotiation skills; proven technical and analytical skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team. A high degree of computer proficiency; adapts quickly to improving technology and willing to learn.
Other Qualifications: Adaptable to fast-paced, frequently changing corporate structure and work environments. Professional and self-confident. Uses experience and good judgment. Able and willing to train and mentor others.
